One of my new favorite garments is an a-line skirt, like the one I’m wearing in today’s outfit. They can work on a variety of different shapes & sizes, and have such a beautiful, lady-like look to them. I love the mixture of femininity and faux leather in this particular skirt. It creates such a great feel to the skirt, and makes it so completely versatile. In this particular outfit, I went for a mixture of masculine and feminine. Mixing a plaid button down with a faux leather skirt and adding pops of pink really made this outfit so much fun to wear. I always associate plaid button downs with masculinity. That may seem odd, but when I was in college, I had to wear a plaid button down as part of my uniform for my welding class. At that time the only plaid button down I could find was in the men’s department, so I felt extremely masculine during that class. I’ve always been a bit of a tom boy, not wearing many skirts or dresses until I graduated college (aside from the random ball gown for homecoming, prom, and the play dress up days). There’s definitely fun in wearing men’s clothing as well. It’s fantastic to mix a men’s shirt with a skirt or skinny jeans and a pair of heels. There’s just that great funk it adds to any outfit, really (and I’m not a fan of the menswear trend).

On a side note – please bear with me this week…my laptop is having some issues, and is being repaired. I’m a sad, sad lady right now, but hopefully it will be fixed soon and everything will be happy again.
