I discovered this skirt while purging my closet recently. I’m really glad I did, although I normally wouldn’t wear something this tight or scandalous. When I was in high school, I wore big, baggy jeans (think JNCO’s, GAT jeans, etc), saying t-shirts…anything to hide my body. Add a multi chain wallet, tons of ball chain necklace chokers, arms full of plastic glitter bracelets, black eye liner & glitter to the max, and you have me at 16. I was always secretly jealous of the girls who would wear super tight, sexy, flattering, feminine clothes. I wanted to wear them, though my confidence level was below sea level, if you know what I mean. I never really took risks, per say, aside from playing Chinese Fire drills at busy intersections, or drag racing my dad’s trans am at midnight on Saturdays. This outfit is completely out of my comfort zone even now, but I never felt more amazing in it. I felt like my curves & my body scream “look at me!!!”, and I love it. The confidence boost from it is amazing. I think I found my inner pin up girl with this outfit.
Have you found your inner pin up? What does she like to wear?

Love this! Sometimes taking risks is the perfect thing to boost confidence. I for one think you look absolutely amazing. Love the patterned tights and polka dot cardigan. I sometimes force myself to into outfits that require a little more confidence on my “blah” days, just for that little extra boost. And like you said, it totally works.

I know this whole look is about the skirt.. but dang, that boot effect your created is awesome!

For me, in high school I wasn’t fashionable, but I would say my clothes were much tighter. I always believed that as a big girl, I wasn’t allowed to wear “over sized” for fear of making me looking larger. So glad I broke that rule. Over sized tops are my favorite!

Okay girly, I love so much about this post. First of all, I was actually thinking last night about how insecure I’ve always been about my weight, shape and about my body overall. I was thinking about doing a post on it to sort of see if I could bring about a revelation, haha. Anyway, I always admire other shapely girls who really know how to dress to suit their body type in the best way. Teenage me was pretty much swallowed in ill-fitting jeans and oversized t-shirts; in fact, I used to do such over-the-top dramatic make-up with just my uninspired outfits because I felt like make-up was the only thing I could really have – as if curvy girls can’t “do” fashion. I’ve learned a lot since I started blogging, and my perspective is much better, but I still don’t feel like I’ve hit that pin-up moment for myself yet. ;)

Now, secondly. YOU LOOK AMAZING. I always love your outfits, but really you should feel so proud of yourself for putting this one together. I think a lot of us might let our insecurities get the better of us and we’d toss the skirt away without trying it. But what you put together is so tasteful and exciting, and perfectly complimentary to your curves. Go you!
