When I was a little girl, all the way through high school, I always wanted to wear a dress and be on the country side, possibly singing. Sounds cliche, I know. I would’ve never worn anything like this in high school, though I dreamt of it. I was too busy trying to be cool, slothing around the school in my 48″ wide pants (each leg !!), studded belts, band or phrase tee’s, tons of glitter bracelets, chokers, and an inch thick smear of glitter over each black eye lined eye. I had an image to uphold, I was a “freak” or “gothic” or whatever it was called back then, and that was cool. Once I got home though, this “freak” tore into her treasure chest of clothing that once belonged to her grandmother & her mother, put a piece on, & pranced around the house, backyard, and even climbed the tree in the front yard. Being cast in a medieval show (Once Upon a Mattress) required me to wear a period gown, and I acted like it wasn’t cool, but inside I was glowing with glee. Wearing pretty dresses always makes a girl smile, no matter how “cool” she may think she is or has to be.

You look SO beautiful!!!
I hear ya! I was very similar in high school… feeling like I had to dress a certain way for my friends to accept me. It’s so funny now that we are older… realizing how silly that is and finally being ourselves! It’s just so much more…. comfortable.

I agree, wearing a pretty dress can definitely make a girl happy – that dress is gorgeous!
Lovely, that dress is one out of a storybook. It looks delicate and beautiful on you & love the flattering neckline. xx
It feels good to read my fav blogs again, I’m back now.
Have a great weekend dear.
So glad to have discovered your blog via Madison’s music project! I wouldn’t wear 1/2 the stuff I wear now back in the highschool day, but that was mainly because I was too concerned with what people thought and not enough with what I liked. The older I get, the less I care. Brilliant.
You are so right here, dresses always add a little bounce to my step when I slip one on. That dress looks gorgeous on you and I am totally loving all the lace detailing and the beautiful collar. You are darling Kirsten Marie!!
Ooh, I love that dress. It reminds me of The Girl of the Limberlost’s graduation dress.
Dying over those Jessica Simpson sandals. She never gets it wrong
