This week’s Friend Friday questions were definitely thinkers!!
1. Most readers and fellow fashion bloggers value authenticity in the
blogs they read. How would you describe blog/blogger authenticity?
They need to be themselves. 100% of the time. There is nothing that leaves more of a sour taste in my mouth than someone who is not genuine. Unfortunately these days, in this society, finding someone who is truly genuine can be quite a task.
2. When it comes to your blog how to you infuse it with that true/
authentic feeling?
I speak from my heart and my mind. I don’t hold anything back, and I just lay it all out there for people to see and read. I highly value the statement, “Do unto others as you would have them do to you.” I hope that in being genuine myself, I will find more people who are the same.
3. Have you stopped following a blog in the last three months? What
made you lose interest?
Yes I have. I follow 1,000+ blogs and I try as best as I can to maintain a regular commenting system with them. I lost interest in a few of them, simply because I felt non-existent. I would comment on so many posts, or attempt to contact the blogger in other ways, and receive absolutely no response. This is really discouraging, and makes me think, well, I guess this person feels they do not need me, so I do not need them. It’s really difficult to want to continue something when it is completely one sided.
4. We can’t communicate effectively on our blogs, something we don’t
live in real life… what are some ways you try to live an authentic
life?
Again, I just follow my heart, my mind, or my gut (which ever is pulling me at that moment). Sometimes my life isn’t all that exciting, so by dressing in certain outfits and doing OOTD posts, or looking up some inspirations (things that I love and will look at or watch hundreds of times over), and sharing them makes me feel more like myself. If that makes any sense at all.
5. Give a shout-out… Which bloggers do you think are truly genuine
and why?
This is going to be one big shout out!! I wish I could include all of the bloggers I feel are truly genuine, because there really are a lot of them out there. Kirstin from Crimson Rosella, Louise from Coffee & a Cardigan, Kristy, the Full Time Fabulous Blogger, Vahni from grit and glamour, Katy from Modly Chic, Heidi from Heidi Hastings’ Blog, Daniella from Keep Warm, and Bella from the Citizen Rosebud, are a few amazing examples of truly genuine bloggers. I feel like when I am reading their blogs, I am reading a letter from them, or a written down conversation. It’s so easy to read, and I can relate to each of them. Plus, they are fabulous!!
Friend Friday is a group that allows fashion and beauty bloggers to get to know each other and to share their thoughts on different topics. For more information or to join the group, please visit Modlychic. You can see all of my fellow bloggers answers as well as Katy’s answers to these questions here.
Hi, I'm Kirstin (pronounced - Keer-stin)! Twenty-nine year old curvy gal with big dreams. Welcome to my world!

Couldn’t agree more! I know it must be pretty difficult to reply to everyone if a person has a huge amount of comments cause obviously they have their everyday life as well… but never receiving any response whatsoever is really discouraging. x
The lack of interaction with a blogger can be really discouraging and it just all goes back to feeling that sense of community. If I don’t get that from a blog, I usually stop following it.
Great answers!
Agreed…Vahni, Bella and Katy are awesome and totally genuine!
Ok.. today you are a commenting fiend! Every blog I visit to read and comment you’ve already beaten me to. Good for you. Thanks for the shoutout in #5. And I agree ‘do unto others…’ – Katy
Kristen–I thought I followed a lot of blogs. How do you keep up with a 1000! I deeply appreciate your thoughtful comments at Rags this morning. You are new to me, but I will be back!

How do you keep up with so many blogs? I try to hard to get back to everyone that comments on me and keep blogger interaction up but sometimes I have to step back and tell myself if I miss a day its ok!

I too am very picky about my perfume, I will have to check this one out.
I would only wear a bow too if I was Natalie.
Have You Entered My Birthday Giveaway Yet?
Oh you lovely lady… Thanks for mentioning me. I think it’s so important to be authentic. I think that real is always better, even if it’s a bit crap. To be real and embracing every situation helps us to live in the moment and learn to appreciate what is…
Sometimes I think one of the most challenging aspects of blogging is following all the blogs I do. I sneak peaks at work while multitasking but, oh man do I wish I had more time!
