I am excited to announce my newest addition to my blog. I am going to do features on different bloggers that I really enjoy and that I read daily. For my first feature, I would like to introduce Louise from Coffee and a Cardigan. She is super friendly, really sweet and has a wonderful blog.

1. When & Why did you start blogging?
I started my personal style blog in July 2010. I was having trouble getting dressed in the morning, in desperate need of a creative outlet, and I wanted to be a part of the blogging community. I also wanted to be a somewhat rare size ten presence in the blogosphere.
2. Describe your blog. What is your ultimate goal that you wish to achieve through your blog?
Coffee & a Cardigan is my style blog that features what I wear everyday. Amidst the daily sartorial ensembles, you’ll find recipes, pranks, hot beverages, miscellany, and a touch of good-natured sarcasm. I live in a little Bavarian village nestled in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley, so you’ll find local touches as well. I want my blog to be a friendly and cozy place that anyone can come to. I want my readers to feel beautiful, loved, and wanted. I don’t care about your shape, size, color, popularity status, etc. Just know that you are beautiful.
3. Where are your favorite places to shop? Why?
I worked at Gap for five years, and it’s still my go-to place for basics and great denim. Some habits can’t be broken! I also shop at thrift shops, Amazon, Urban Outfitters, antique fairs, and Anthropologie. But… I buy cheap. I mean really, really, cheap. I love a good deal, and I have trained myself well! I now know the difference between buying something inexpensive because you love/need it and buying something inexpensive because it’s inexpensive. I learned the hard way on that one.

4. How do you put together your outfits?
I dress depending on my mood. Sometimes I want to dress vintage, or trendy, or sloppy, or chic. I do not have a style that I adhere to. I love the freedom in that. Sometimes I just see something in my closet that squeaks, “Wear me!” Am I the only one whose clothing squeaks at them?
5. Who/What is your biggest style influence?
Emily Martin from The Black Apple, hands down. Right after I had my baby girl, I discovered her website and ogled it for days. (I credit Emily and the music of Adele for single-handedly pulling me out of postpartum depression.) I see her around Portland sometimes, and she’s as cute and quirky as can be! I get a lot of inspiration from old movies, too. Ginger Rogers, Jean Arthur, and Judy Garland a few women I admire.

6. What is some advice you would give to the fashion blogger just starting out?
You know that obnoxious advice your mom gave you when you wanted that boy to like you? “Just be yourself.” I just threw up a little while typing that. Unfortunately, it’s true. Also, don’t take yourself too seriously. Have fun! Keep your blog limited to a simple color scheme. Update your sidebar information frequently. Leave thoughtful comments on other blogs. Get back to those who comment on yours. Don’t sweat the numbers. Only blog if you love it and if it helps you become a better, more loving person. Oh, and avoid emoticons.

WHAT IS LOUISE ON ABOUT, EMOTICONS ARE BRILLIANT. o__o
That said, I love this feature! I love Louise’s blog, and it’s great to read her answers to your questions. I’ll definitely be reading more of your blog now!
